Former state Duma Deputy from the Communist Denis Boronenkov gave evidence to the General Prosecutor of Ukraine on charges of treason of former President Viktor Yanukovych. This is reported by the Rambler/news, citing the newspaper “Kommersant”.
Boronenkov partially confirmed the data of the Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine about the “treason” of the former head of the state himself came to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko. This occurred prior to the presentation Yanukovych of treason charges, that is, before 28 November 2016.
GPU expects to complete all investigative activities in the case of treason in February, and the process is expected to begin in March.
Earlier testimony against Yanukovych gave another former state Duma Deputy Ilya Ponomarev, who received in the summer of 2016 residence permit in Ukraine. He met several times with investigators and the chief military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios. Until recently, Ponomarev was considered in Kiev one of the key witnesses in this case.
The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine accuses ex-President Viktor Yanukovych of treason because of his request to the Russian Federation to introduce troops to Ukraine. In January the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said that two deputies of the state Duma in his evidence testified that the “mechanism of entry of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine was launched by the Kremlin in December” of 2013, before the overthrow of Yanukovych.
