Speaking against the hijab in schools the Minister of education of Russia Olga Vasilyeva goes against historic values of Muslims. This was stated by the mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin, reports “Interfax”.

“Xenophobia is a disease of modern society, which is particularly dangerous for our multinational country. That’s why I with alarm in heart apprehended statements of Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Olga Vasilyeva, who opposed the historical cultural values of the indigenous Muslim peoples of Russia,” — said Samigullin.

Earlier in January the mufti of Chechnya Salah Haji Mezhiev called infringement of human rights and discrimination ban on wearing Muslim headscarves in educational institutions of Mordovia. He recalled that “Muslims have the right to dress according to the canons of Islam and the traditions of their peoples.”

The leadership of Mordovia Republic has banned teachers and students at the school in the village of Belozerye to wear the Islamic headscarf in order to prevent extremism on the eve of the world Cup, which Russia will host in 2018. On January 24 the Minister of education Olga Vasilyeva said that the question already decided by the Constitutional court, postanowili that the hijab has no place in school. “I don’t think truly religious people attribute their attitude to the faith, we try to emphasize,” said she.

The Supreme court of Russia upheld the ban on wearing headscarves and other religious paraphernalia, as well as mini-skirts, jeans, clothing with plunging neckline and body piercing in schools of Mordovia in February 2015. Initially, the ban was established by the government of the Republic.
