No discussion about whether to replace the term “QR-code”, the Russian authorities do not keep. This was stated by the representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports.
“You can call it whatever you like, it will remain a QR code. What is another name for it? ” – said Peskov.
Earlier, RBC sources reported that the Russian authorities are discussing a new name for the document for those with medical treatment, COVID-19 patients and vaccinated, which will allow to visit public places when restrictive measures are introduced due to the pandemic. It was noted that they want to minimize the use of the term “QR code”, since the results of closed social studies indicate that more than half of Russians have a negative attitude towards it.

In mid-November, the State Duma introduced draft amendments on using QR codes that confirm the fact of vaccination against coronavirus or a previous illness over the past six months. The government has proposed to oblige passengers on trains and planes throughout Russia to demonstrate the code.
