WSJ: The United States was unable to convince European countries that Russia was preparing an attack on Ukraine that Russia is allegedly preparing an attack on Ukraine. The Wall Street Journal writes about this with reference to two European diplomats.
As the interlocutors of the publication explained, representatives of the American intelligence tried to convince their allies in Europe that Moscow is preparing an invasion of Ukraine. The information voiced by Washington raised concerns about the possible actions of Russia among European politicians, but the authorities of some European countries questioned the arguments of the Americans.
“Some European capitals are still not convinced that Russia is planning an attack on Ukraine,” pointed out sources WSJ. According to them, at present, intelligence analysts in Western countries still have not reached a final conclusion about the real intentions of the Kremlin.
Earlier in November, The New York Times, citing American and European officials, reported that Russia ostensibly ready to invade Ukraine and the Western countries have very little time to prevent it. As the newspaper noted, the attack could happen soon enough.
Prior to this, Bloomberg had described a pessimistic scenario for the development of the migration crisis on the border of Poland and Belarus. According to the author of the article, the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, may escalate this conflict. At the same time, it was noted in the material, in the event of an open armed clash, Russia has already mobilized forces on the border with Ukraine. Bloomberg also later reported that, according to American intelligence, Russia would attack Ukraine as early as 2022.
