The Russian Red Cross announced a fundraiser to help Belarus

Pavel Savchuk: about 2 thousand refugees are in a camp on the Polish-Belarusian border

The Russian Red Cross has begun raising funds to provide assistance to the Belarusian Red Cross in connection with the migration crisis. This was announced by the chairman of the Russian Red Cross Pavel Savchuk.

“We are in close contact with our colleagues from the Belarusian Red Cross, and in July we signed a memorandum of understanding. At the moment, about two thousand refugees are still in a spontaneous camp on the Polish-Belarusian border. Now we have received initial information on needs from our colleagues and are announcing fundraising, as well as humanitarian aid. All our activities, as before, will be organized in accordance with the fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and in coordination with the international federation, “he said.

Let us remind you that from the beginning of November on the Polish-Belarusian border the migration crisis continues. Thousands of refugees from the Middle East approached the barriers at the border and tried to enter the territory of the European Union. The Polish security forces had to use additional forces to contain their pressure. The European Union accused the official Minsk of aggravating the situation with migrants.
