The Central Bank decided to fight against forcing clients of organizations to provide redundant information The data protection of Russians is mentioned in the draft Guidelines for the Development of the Financial Market, published on the Central Bank's website.

The regulator will inform the authorized bodies of the violations found. The Central Bank also plans to monitor compliance by financial institutions with cybersecurity measures. To this end, the regulator intends to develop tools for assessing the implementation of the Central Bank's recommendations by institutions.

The Central Bank will also take measures to counter social engineering on websites and in mobile applications of financial organizations when interacting with users. “With the development of promising instruments for protecting consumer and investor rights in terms of regulation and supervision, the Bank of Russia will continue to interact with international organizations in this area,” the document states.

Earlier in November, the Public Chamber reported that in 2021 year, 11 thousand requests were received on various cases of fraud, including theft of personal data. Users have expressed concern that they cannot be sure of their safety in the digital space.
