The head of the Belarusian Defense Ministry accused NATO of complex preparations for a war on the borders 
Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin in an interview accused NATO of comprehensive preparations for a war on the republic’s borders, BelTA informs.
According to him, the United States has been conducting Operation Atlantic Resolve since 2014, during which troops are deployed in the Old World. “Its number in general in Europe is more than six thousand, and more than four thousand – directly on the territory of Poland and the Baltic countries,” said Khrenin. In addition, the NATO combined armed forces have been conducting Operation Reinforced Forward Presence since 2017.
In the countries neighboring Belarus, the intensity of operational combat training has increased significantly, Khrenin continued. “Airfields on the territory of the Baltic countries and Poland are being modernized. At the moment, five or six airfields have already been made to NATO standards, work is underway on ten more, “he said.
The Minister of Defense added that Poland is increasing its military budget, the country is making statements about the need to increase the size of the army from 120 thousand to 200 thousand.
“All this is very alarming and worried about the fact that a complex of such events is being held. As a military man, I understand that this is all a set of measures to prepare for war. What for? Are we threatening? No, said Khrenin. “These are inventions to justify militarization in front of your society.”
Earlier Khrenin said that Russian military bases in Belarus were unnecessary.
