Smokers are more likely to carry COVID-19 in a more severe form. This is stated in a memo distributed on the official website of Rospotrebnadzor in honor of the International Day of Smoking Cessation.
Doctors recalled that smoking impairs lung function. It is more difficult for a smoker's body to fight respiratory diseases, in particular, caused by coronavirus infection, since his lungs are already damaged.
Moreover, doctors say, smoking cigarettes or using other tobacco products increases the risk of contracting COVID-19 through mouth.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health reminded that smoking at an early age can seriously harm the formation and development of the body, leading a person to various diseases. In particular, this can lead to the development of chronic diseases of the lungs and cardiovascular system.
