He added that the EU is not ready to agree to any of the president's conditions, therefore, most likely, Russia will have to take responsibility for Lukashenka's actions and resolving the crisis he created.
Earlier, Lukashenko, in a conversation with the interim German chancellor Angela Merkel, put forward an ultimatum in exchange for ending the migration crisis at the borders of the European Union countries. The details of their conversation were revealed by Estonian Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets. According to her, the Belarusian leader demanded that the EU leaders recognize the legitimacy of his power, as well as lift all Western sanctions against Belarus.

Markov is sure that the Estonian Foreign Ministry is lying. According to him, Lukashenka is a sober politician who understands that the sanctions will never be lifted from him in full and will not be recognized as a legitimate president, since it is beneficial for Europe to keep him in limbo.
“This is all slander. … I think Lukashenka demands cooperation from the Poles and Europe. After all, they urge him to defend the Polish-Belarusian border only in their own interests, but in response to this they refuse to even cooperate on other issues. The EU must retaliate and engage in open, normal negotiations. Lukashenka, however, requires only this – the restoration of interaction and dialogue, “- said Markov.
In addition, he suggested that Lukashenka demanded the lifting of the sanctions imposed after the start of the migration crisis, fearing that the situation would be resolved, and the restrictions would remain.
“Nevertheless, Europe is not ready to implement any of the these requirements, – said the political scientist. – They will see how the media will cover this whole situation, what will become of the refugees in winter. And when some horrible pictures come out, they will shift all the responsibility to Russia. Since they refuse to enter into dialogue with Lukashenka, it is Russia that will have to take responsibility for him. Moreover, I believe that even Nord Stream 2 was frozen in order to unfreeze it later, presenting it as a blessing in response to the actions of our country to resolve the migration crisis, ”concluded Markov.
