“Saakashvili is really starving, everyone confirms this. Treatment of such a patient in a prison hospital is inappropriate, ”Grigolia said. He added that a written report on the visit by the council of doctors to the former president will be presented on Wednesday, November 17. Earlier, the Ombudsman of Georgia Nino Lomjaria created a special group that monitors the state of the politician. On the night of November 17, doctors visited the prisoner for the first time.

Saakashvili's associate and member of the opposition United National Movement, Khatia Dekanoidze, said that the ex-president's face turned yellow from hunger and he was getting weaker every day. Dekanoidze also said that the prisoners, at the direction of the prison administration, put pressure on Saakashvili: they often make noise and shout insults.

Mikhail Saakashvili was detained on October 1. He returned to Georgia after eight years of emigration to take part in protests. At home, the politician was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison. While in a prison in the city of Rustavi, the ex-president went on a hunger strike. On November 8, he was transferred to a prison hospital in Tbilisi.
