Europe predicted large-scale power outages due to gas shortages

Head of Trafigura Weir: Large-scale power outages in Europe are possible in winter – due to the gas shortage in an interview with the newspaper The Telegraph, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the expert, such a situation is possible if the winter is cold. “To be honest, we don't have enough gas right now. We are not making reserves for the winter, so there is a real concern, ”he said.

During trading on Tuesday, November 16, gas prices in Europe jumped and for the first time since late October reached $ 1,100 per thousand cubic meters. The reason for the sharp rise in prices was Germany's decision to suspend certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. It will remain in effect until the Swiss operator of the Nord Stream 2 AG project creates a subsidiary to operate the German section.
