Ovechkin named the first star of the week in the NHL

Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin named the first star of the week in the NHL in the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported on the league's website.

The 36-year-old striker has led the trio of the best hockey players of the week. Boston Bruins defensive player Charlie McAvoy is in second place, Anaheim Ducks forward Troy Terry is third.

Ovechkin took part in four NHL games last week. In them, he scored eight points: two goals scored and six assists.

With the 742th goal, the Russian took fourth place in the list of the best snipers in NHL history. He bypassed the eminent American hockey player Brett Hull.

Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005. The Russian helped the Capitals win the Stanley Cup for the first time in the club's history. Before moving to the United States, the Russian played for the capital “Dynamo”.
