Disclosed the features of the treatment of COVID-19 with varying degrees of severity

Head of the Gamaleya Center Gunzburg: COVID medicines for critically ill patients are given in the form of liquid

Director of the Gamalei National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Gintsburg, in an interview with TASS, revealed the peculiarities of treating patients with coronavirus with varying degrees of severity of the disease.

According to the head of the center, drugs for COVID-19 for severely ill patients are supposed to be in the form of a liquid, for medium and light patients – given in the form of tablets. However, this question also depends on pharmacokinetics. “There is no definitive understanding,” the specialist said.

Gunzburg also emphasized that this issue largely depends on the severity of the patient: for seriously ill patients, injectable forms of drugs, as well as droppers, are preferable. In the case of a milder form, pills are usually prescribed.

“It also depends on the pharmacokinetics, respectively, of the chemistry you enter – how much is it absorbed? How should it be entered? But this is a more subtle point, “he concluded.

Earlier, Areplivir, the first domestic drug intended for the treatment of COVID-19, was registered in Russia. The press service of the developer, Promomed Group of Companies, stressed that the drug will be delivered to hospitals in all regions of Russia by the end of the year.
