The State Duma proposed to shorten the working day in Russia in autumn and winter

Deputy Milonov asked the Ministry of Labor to reduce the working day in the autumn-winter period by one hour

State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov suggested reduce the working day in Russia by one hour. This is stated in his letter addressed to the head of the Ministry of Labor Anton Kotyakov, which appeared at the disposal of RT.

“I ask you to consider the possibility of reducing the official eight-hour working day in the winter (from November 15 to February 28) by including travel time to the workplace for one hour, “the appeal says.

According to Milonov, such a measure will help to raise labor discipline among the population, as well as increase the motivation of workers and demonstrate the social orientation of the state. The deputy added that the climate in Russia in autumn and winter impedes high labor efficiency. In addition, short daylight hours, cold and precipitation negatively affect the emotional state and health of citizens, Milonov assured.

“It should also be noted that in this situation, our fellow citizens in fact do not have an eight-hour working day guaranteed by law: travel time to work is not taken into account by the employer and does not count towards working hours. It turns out that in fact, fellow citizens work 10-11 hours instead of the prescribed eight, “he clarified in his appeal.

Earlier, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov said that the department sees no prerequisites for introducing a four-day working week in the country , however, it is ready to consider proposals, if any. According to him, the department has not yet received an initiative that would be “formed, substantiated”, which would explain the need for a shortened week. According to Kotyakov, the remote can become a kind of alternative to the four-day stay.
