The Ministry of Energy noticed an increase in the number of accidents at power facilities

Izvestia: in Russia, the number of accidents at power facilities reached 103 in a week

Accidents at power facilities have become more frequent in Russia. Izvestia writes about this with reference to the minutes of the meeting with the deputy head of the Ministry of Energy Yevgeny Grabchak.

According to the department's estimates, only in the week of October 11-18, the number of accidents reached 103. Of these, 90 incidents occurred in the power industry, in the gas industry – five, in the oil – one.

The Ministry of Energy clarified that most of these cases either passed without consequences for consumers, or were not critical. Moreover, according to the standards, even an insignificant change in the normal operation of the power system is classified as an accident, and the risk of its occurrence is classified as an emergency.

Experts believe that accidents are caused by the human factor, increased load on the grid and climatic conditions. Also, in their opinion, the number of incidents may increase in the coming winter.

On October 22, due to bad weather in the Leningrad, Novgorod and Pskov regions, more than six thousand people were left without electricity. 317 people and 97 pieces of equipment were sent to eliminate the accidents.

In February, a sharp power surge occurred in Nizhny Novgorod. As a result, almost all household appliances in 426 apartments of the Verkhniye Pechery microdistrict went out of order at the same time.
