Gunzburg: Russia is developing a drug capable of suppressing the reproduction of COVID-19 
Director of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Gamaleya Ginzburg told that a drug is being developed in Russia to suppress the reproduction of COVID-19. He stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, there are several drugs that can suppress the multiplication of coronavirus, but they cannot do it so well that they can be used to treat patients in serious condition. Gunzburg noted that in the center of Gamaleya, work is underway to create drugs that purposefully suppress the virus. “But with regard to them, unfortunately, I cannot promise that it will be within a few months. It takes more time, “he added.
Earlier, Gunzburg announced that Russia was developing a drug from antibodies to treat patients with COVID-19. “We are currently developing antibodies that can be given to patients with coronavirus in the form of a medicine,” said the head of the Gamaleya center. According to him, clinical trials of the drug for patients with coronavirus will begin in January and will be completed within three to four months.
