The orbit of the ISS “raised” at 600 meters
The operation was carried out using the engines of the cargo ship “Progress MS-06”.
TASS, August 27. Specialists of the Russian mission control Center conducted a maneuver to increase the average height of the orbit flight to the International space station (ISS), said on Sunday the TASS in the Mission control center.
“The operation was carried out using the engines of the cargo ship “Progress MS-06″. The engines of the ship were included in the estimated time and worked 177 seconds (nearly three minutes),” said the Center.
As a result of the maneuver, the average height of the orbit of the ISS mission was extended to 600 meters — up to 404,2 km.
The maneuver was conducted with the purpose of forming ballistic conditions for landing manned spacecraft “Soyuz MS-04” September 3, as well as launch and docking to the ISS spacecraft “Soyuz MS-06” 13 September, said at MCC.
Earlier, the correction of the orbit of the station was planned for August 25, but was postponed to August 27 due to the optimal ballistic calculations, the conduct of the maneuver.
