The special representative of the state Department’s Kurt Volker pleased with the meeting with Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov, which was held on August 21 in Minsk. He declared it in interview to TV channel “Rain”.
“I also left a positive impression from our meeting. It was a serious and Frank conversation. We had some disagreements. Everything was fair and transparent,” he said.
“We came to a consensus that the status quo will not bring anything good to anyone. This is bad both for Russia and for Ukraine, and for the residents of Donbass” , — he added.
August 21, Surkov held the first meeting with Volker after his appointment. He expressed satisfaction with the conversation, calling it “useful and constructive”. According to him, he and his companion agreed that ” the current situation in the South-East of Ukraine can not satisfy neither the conflicting parties nor the external forces contributing to the settlement.”
