The painting of 1937 found the “iPhone”. What it is actually, nobody really knows
Italian abstract artist Umberto Romano in 1937 finished the painting, “Mr. Pynchon and the settlement of Springfield.” It depicts the English colonist William Pynchon in North America. Next to the Pynchon — Indian in traditional dress and with feathers in her hair, which looks to the iPhone.

William, incidentally, was a direct ancestor of the famous American writer Thomas Pynchon. And Thomas Pynchon, in turn, was born in 1937 — the same year when Romano finished the painting with William Pynchon.
