The police in Rostov-on-don has initiated a criminal case on the fact of fire in residential houses. This was reported on the website of the main Department of the MIA of Russia in the Rostov region.
The case was brought on signs of the crime provided by part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal code of Russia “(Intentional destruction or damage of another’s property, if these acts have entailed causing of a considerable damage, committed by arson”).
“In order to determine the causes and circumstances of the fire, the police carried out a complex quickly-search actions and investigative actions, also assigned to conduct a series of special examinations,” — said in a press release.
According to the text of the criminal code, the criminal acts punishable by hard labor for a term up to five years or imprisonment for the same term.
Thus in GU Ministry of internal Affairs in the region, RIA Novosti explained that the criminal charges of intentional destruction or damage to property does not mean that the cause was arson. “We filed a case in fact. The causes and circumstances of the fire are established in the course of a criminal investigation. To say that the cause of the fire was arson, is premature,” — said the Agency interlocutor.
The fire in Rostov took place on Monday, August 21. Fire engulfed several private houses on Theatrical descent, and then spread to the neighboring streets and alleys. The fire area reached ten thousand square meters. Flames damaged in 107 buildings, including 83 residential buildings.
According to preliminary data, medical assistance 45 people, seven were hospitalized.
