Russia has the potential to become a leading nation of the world. This was stated by the Dalai Lama in a video message to the participants of Synergy Global Forum, reports on Thursday, August 17, RIA Novosti.
“Russia is a great nation. Geographically Russia is a bridge between East and West. And, in addition, the potential of natural resources (…) Geographically Russia has enormous potential (…) I think Russia will be able to properly dispose of their capabilities,” he said.
The Dalai Lama also said that he would like to re-visit a number of Russian regions visited in his childhood in the Soviet Union. “I would very much like to come to these republics — Kalmykia, Buryatia, Tuva. However, I do not think that in the near future it will be possible,” he said.
The Dalai Lama XIV Tenzin gyamtsho is considered the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people and Buddhists around the world. In 1959, he fled China after the suppression of the Beijing authorities of the uprising of the Tibetan population. Since then, the Dalai Lama lives in India. In 1989 awarded the Nobel peace prize. Until 27 April 2011, he headed the Tibetan government in exile. In China it was outlawed as a leader of Tibetan separatists.
