MOSCOW, 14 Aug — RIA Novosti. For the first half of 2017, the average life expectancy in Russia for the first time exceeded the age of 72, told reporters Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets.

According to her, the main factor contributing to the increase in life expectancy, is a systematic work to reduce mortality. For the first half of 2017, mortality declined to 12.9 per 1000 people (13.2 over the same period last year).

“The health and demographic development is an absolute priority for the government. This issue will remain the focus in the future”, — said Deputy Prime Minister.
