In Turkey warned of the response to the ban on importing vegetables to Russia
The head of economy stated that the pressure of business may force the Turkish government to impose retaliatory sanctions on restriction of deliveries to Russia of tomatoes and other agricultural products.
The Minister of economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci warned that in case of preservation by Russia of restrictions on import of products of the Turkish producers, Turkey could retaliate, according to the newspaper TimeTurk.
According to the Minister, the preservation of Russia’s ban on imports of Turkish tomatoes and other agricultural products irritating local farmers, which have “serious pressure” on the authorities. “This may force us to respond,” Zeybekci said at a meeting with Turkish businessmen in Ankara.
The Minister noted that the high hopes with the Russian-Turkish negotiations, to be held in Izmir in mid-August.
“We want to make progress, I want positive steps, you want positive results. We don’t want to hear about the bans, tomatoes, other vegetables, meat and dairy products,” said Zeybekci.
