The President of Russia Vladimir Putin promised to think over the offer to stand as a candidate in the elections for the presidency in 2018. His words on Friday, August 4, reports TASS.
With the call to take part in the presidential race, Putin asked one of the residents of the Buryat village of Cheryomushki during the sharing session with the President, conducting a meeting on liquidation of consequences of forest fires in the region.
“Well, I think, thanks”, — Putin responded.
July 28, the Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, making comments on information on possible appointment to the post of head of election headquarters of Vladimir Putin the head of his administration Anton Vaino, said that the presidential campaign in the country has not yet started.
Earlier in July, Putin, speaking to the students of the educational center “Sirius” in Sochi admitted that he has not yet decided whether to run for a new term.
In a straight line on 15 June, the Russian leader also did not disclose plans for the election campaign. Answering the question about the choice of a successor, he stressed that it can only select people.
Presidential elections will be held in Russia in March 2018. By law, the elected President will hold office for six years. The intention to run for the presidency was declared by the leader of LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the founder of the party “Yabloko” Grigory Yavlinsky and opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Its participation in elections does not exclude the Chairman of the CPRF Gennady Zyuganov.
