Diplomats told when Chichvarkin has received a Russian passport
LONDON, Aug 4 — RIA Novosti. The Russian Embassy in London said that it designed the businessman Evgeny Chichvarkin, the Russian passport in 2016.
In an interview with the author of the channel “wdud” on YouTube, Russian journalist Yuri Dude on July 25 Chichvarkin, who lives in London, said that he has now only one document with his photograph — a driver’s license.
“I can say that, in reality, Evgeny Chichvarkin on his request, that is, on the personal written application to the Russian Embassy in London, Russian authorities were issued a Russian passport, which he received personally by visiting the Embassy in August of 2016,” — said in a statement on the website of the Russian diplomatic Agency.
Chichvarkin and his family left Russia in late 2008 and currently resides in the UK. He and another co-owner of “Euroset” Timur Artemyev sold the company to businessman Alexander Mamut in September 2008 for $ 1.25 billion including debt in 850 million dollars. Then the businessman was put on the international wanted list in connection with the criminal proceedings against him, but after a review of the request for extradition in a British court a criminal case in Russia was terminated, and Russia in 2011, overturned the extradition request. However, even then, Chichvarkin said that they will not return to Russia under the current circumstances, fearing further persecution. The case against Chichvarkin were related to the abduction of the former forwarding agent “Euroset” suspected by the security personnel of the company in the theft of mobile phones.
