Seventh meeting of high representatives of the BRICS countries, in charge of security issues, began on Friday in the Chinese capital. The Russian delegation on action is headed by the Secretary of the Russian security Council Nikolai Patrushev.
“Cooperation in security is an important balancing tool. The current international situation is very complex and subject to major changes, and the factors of uncertainty and instability increase,” — said in his opening remarks, member of the state Council of China Yang Jiechi.
“We should exercise foresight and putting in the forefront the interests of the BRICS countries, continuously strengthen the national revival of our States and to promote business cooperation in all spheres”, — said Yang Jiechi, urging the participating countries to uphold the principles of multilateralism, process improvement, global market, globalization and increasing openness of economies.
The Secretary of the Russian security Council said that he considers this meeting an important opportunity for substantive discussion on cooperation in the field of security in the run-up scheduled for September this year’s BRICS summit in the Chinese city of Xiamen.
“The BRICs countries (BRICS) are United in the assessment of key global issues and work closely on key international platforms — the UN, G20, world trade organization, International monetary Fund, the world Bank, other multilateral institutions and forums,” — said Patrushev.
He also expressed confidence that the chairmanship of China in the BRICS will end with the successful holding of the summit, and wished the participants fruitful and productive discussion.
