The President of Finland thanked Putin for the visit

The presidents of Russia and Finland Vladimir Putin and Sauli Niinistö met Thursday for talks in the Finnish town of Savonlinna for the discussion of issues of bilateral cooperation and current international problems.

“I want to thank you, Mr President, for the invitation. We are celebrating the centenary of the independence of Finland… In the framework of the centennial anniversary we have a whole set of actions of cultural-historical character,” Putin said before the talks.

Among these events, the Russian President has also mentioned the possibility on Thursday with Niinistö to attend the Opera “Iolanta” at the Bolshoi theatre.

In turn, the Finnish President said that it is pleasure and honor to take of the Russian leader.

“Finland appreciates your visit, what you came here to celebrate the centenary. Do you have the great honor of your visit, you are welcome,” said Niinistö.
