The number of marriages in Russia for the period from January to may of 2017 increased by 8.5 percent compared to the same period in 2016. About it, citing the data of Rosstat on Friday, July 28, the newspaper “Izvestia”.
Indicates that during the first five months of the previous year were registered 275,4 thousand marriages. In 2017 this figure rose to 298,9 thousand.
The number of divorces increased slightly, from 246,6 thousand to 247,7 thousand.
Newspaper interviewed experts said that the increase is due to the fact that the marriage to survive and become “more profitable, more useful and convenient” because the purchasing power of Russians has dropped. They also noted that in Russia there is a growth of the importance of family values.
