The Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova said that he would fight for the right of people to freedom of speech — if it is not possible to hold a rally on red or Palace square, next should be the alternative site; however, you cannot blow up the society, bringing people on unauthorized rallies in the presence of a coherent alternative platform.

“Very important — I also do this, and my colleagues do is to determine a balance between the freedoms. When the authorities prohibited to hold a rally, a March without any explanation is a gross violation of the law,” — said Moskalkova, answering questions of participants of the youth forum “Territory meanings on the Klyazma”.

She stressed that people want to Express their position about the events, about the environment, about education, about governance, about corruption, the Constitution and the law provide such rights and to give citizens an appropriate site.

“But today, when we are in Moscow so a lot of work to give alternative good site for rallies, and the organizers of the rally still go on an unsanctioned event and ahead of himself a human shield to expose a minor, we feel is not fair, not according to the law and not justice. So we blow up the society don’t need,” said Federal Ombudsman.

And when, for example, in St. Petersburg there are no alternative sites for people who want to speak, she continued, citizens are going on an unauthorized rally.

“And we’ll fight to make given the opportunity of power to the people to exercise their right to freedom of speech. If you can not spend on the red or on Palace square, next there should be a platform where people could gather and say what they think about today, about Russia, about the government”, — concluded Moskalkova.
