Pamfilova explained the futility of the idea to oblige the Russians to go to the polls

Ella Pamfilova

The idea is to legally oblige the Russians to participate in the elections is counterproductive, the Chairman of the Central election Commission, Ella Pamfilova. Her words leads TASS on Wednesday, July 26.

“Some countries have such a rule, but I am strongly opposed to just a norm to enter. To make under duress can be, but our people have learned to get out of different situations, and this no one will win”, — Pamfilova said at the meeting with the public and representatives of the parties in Pyatigorsk.

The head of the CEC noted that attendance needs to increase at the expense of the effectiveness of democratic procedures. “Competition must be real, the program of parties interesting — something to entice the voters. Should be a natural interest and a clear understanding of the voter that his vote determines his future,” she said.

Earlier Wednesday, Pamfilova said that the CEC and lawmakers will make changes in the procedure of the election process to improve the transparency of the elections and the opportunities for public control.

A day earlier, senators approved a bill providing for criminal liability for illegal issuance and receive a ballot for another voter and also for the repeated voting. The state Duma in the final reading adopted the document on July 19.

September 10 in a single day of voting across the country will host more than 5.8 thousand elections and referendums at different levels.
