Academician called vascular disease “main killer” Russians

Director of the research Institute of neurosurgery named Burdenko, academician Alexander Potapov called vascular disease, cancer, and injuries (mostly in accidents) the main killers of Russians. His words leads RIA Novosti.

He noted that the same pattern is observed in other countries. In particular, in Russia stroke kills about 400 thousand people a year. According to provided data of Rosstat, in 2016 approximately 900 thousand Russians died from circulatory diseases, 300 thousand — from tumors, primarily malignant, 170 thousand more died from injuries.

He said that, on roads annually perish about 28 thousand people, mainly due to traumatic brain injury, and about 300 thousand per year become disabled.

In may, a study was published by the International medical team (2.3 thousand experts from 133 countries). They calculated that about a third of all deaths in the world is due to cardiovascular diseases. Most commonly for these reasons, die inhabitants of Eastern Europe (including Russia), Central Asia, Middle East, South America, Black Africa and Oceania.
