The Federation Council asked Putin to impose sanctions against Poland

Moscow. July 25. INTERFAX.RU — the Federation Council asked the President to instruct the relevant departments to develop sanctions measures in response to Poland’s decision on the demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers.

“Please give instructions to the relevant Federal Executive authorities to submit a comprehensive proposal on the possible introduction of restrictive measures in the areas of bilateral cooperation with the Republic of Poland, and also in respect of the Polish Parliament — the initiators of the act of 1 April 2016 banning the promotion of communism or another totalitarian regime, and other physical and legal entities”, — reads the statement of the senators to the President, adopted on Tuesday.

As noted in the document, the Polish Parliament adopted amendments to legislation providing for the demolition of monuments and memorials, including the Soviet soldiers who liberated Poland from German occupation in 1944-1945.
