Secretary of the Syrian opposition movement “people’s diplomacy” Mahmud Afandi revealed details of the new agreements on the operation of the zones of de-escalation in Eastern ghouta. On Saturday, July 22, RIA Novosti reported.
According to Afandi, the observation area is likely to be held without Iran’s participation. “There are only American and the Russian side”, — he said.
In turn, Mohammed Alloush, the head of the political Bureau of the opposition group “Jaish al-Islam” confirmed in an interview with RIA Novosti information on the achievement of agreements on the functioning of this zone de-escalation. He noted that there will be placed the power of differentiation between the group and government forces. According to him, the zone also includes the area Dzhobar.
Earlier on July 22, the defense Ministry announced the signing of agreements on areas of de-escalation “Eastern ghouta”. The agreement was reached following the talks, the Russian military and the moderate Syrian opposition held in Cairo (Egypt).
“The laws determine the boundaries of the zone of de-escalation, the deployment location and the powers of the forces of control de-escalation, and routes of delivery of humanitarian aid and the free passage of residents”, — noted in the defense Ministry. It is expected that the first humanitarian convoy will travel to the region in the coming days.
The agreement on the establishment of a de-escalation in Syria, was reached at an international meeting in Astana. They plan to organize in Idlib, North of HOMS, Eastern ghouta and in the South of Syria. Also, the results of the Russian-American summit in Hamburg announced the creation of a zone of de-escalation in the area of Deraa, Quneitra and es-Sweida.
