Turkey categorically do not agree with the German position for the change in the policy of Berlin towards Ankara. This is with reference to the statement by the press Secretary of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip erdoğan, according to Reuters.
“We cannot accept statements that are made for political reasons and intended to erode the economic Foundation of our cooperation, — said Ibrahim Kalin at a press conference in Ankara. We hope that the Germans will take it back”.
Earlier on Thursday, July 20, the foreign Minister of Germany Sigmar Gabriel announced that the German government intends to revise its policy towards Turkey. The Minister explained that there will be a revised terms of Turkey loans and economic aid, as well as the efforts of Berlin at preparing Ankara for membership of the EU. Also, the German foreign Minister will toughen safety advice about the Germans wanting to travel to Turkey. This decision has been approved by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The reason for the arrest in Turkey on July 18 German human rights activist Peter Steudtner. Together with it have arrested five of his colleagues, including the head of the Turkish mission of the organization Amnesty International Edile SR.
