The lower house of Parliament passed a law to revoke the citizenship of the Russian Federation convicted of terrorism
The state Duma at the plenary session passed the third final reading the law to revoke the Russian citizenship from those convicted of terrorist crimes.
The law amends article 393 of the Criminal procedure code of the Russian Federation. As noted in the explanatory note to the document, it “was developed in order to implement the mechanism of cancellation of the decision on acquisition of citizenship of the Russian Federation if the decision was made on the basis provided by the applicant of false information in relation to the obligations under paragraph “b” of part 1 of article 13 of the Federal law “On citizenship of the Russian Federation”. Entered into force verdict of the court in connection with the Commission of crimes of terrorist and extremist is equivalent to the establishment court of the fact of the communication of false information”.
In addition, grounds for revocation of citizenship will be the verdict of the court or attempted crimes such as hostage-taking, participation in an illegal armed formation, the funding of extremist activities and the encroachment on life state or the public figure, violent seizure of power and armed rebellion.
