Putin will celebrate a century with the Finns their independence

Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 27, will visit Finland at the invitation of the President of this country Sauli Niinistö. On Wednesday, July 19, reported on the Kremlin website.

“The visit is timed to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the state independence of Finland and will be held in Savonlinna, where there will also be an international Opera festival with the participation of artists of the Bolshoi theatre”, — stated in the message.

It is reported that in the negotiations the heads of States will discuss a wide range of issues of Russian-Finnish cooperation in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and environmental spheres, and also will exchange opinions on urgent regional and international problems.

The last time Putin visited Finland on 1 July 2016. The talks of the presidents took place on the territory of the state residence “Kultaranta”.

The 100th anniversary of Finland’s independence celebrated at state level. The jubilee year is celebrated throughout the country from 1 January to 6 December (independence Day of Finland) 2017.

6 December 1917 the Senate of Finland announced their intention to change the political system (at that time the Grand Duchy of Finland) and appealed “to the authorities of foreign States”, in particular, to the constituent Assembly of Russia, with recognition of the political independence and sovereignty of the people of Finland. Later the appeal was called “the Declaration of independence of Finland”.
