Moscow is preparing a response to Warsaw’s decision to legalize the demolition of Soviet monuments in the country. This was stated by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko on Wednesday, July 19, RIA Novosti reported.

“The Russian foreign Ministry was made a statement, she said. — Maybe request (to be introduced retaliatory measures approx. “Of the tape.ru”), to inform us.”

The head of Committee of the upper house of Parliament on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev has declared, that will appeal for additional information to the foreign office.

Earlier Wednesday it was reported that the state Duma and Knesset Israel are going to simultaneously appeal to the deputies of the European parliaments call to denounce the government’s decision to demolish Soviet war memorials.

As writes “Interfax”, in the case that the lower house of the Russian Parliament planned to approve the evening of 19 July, the deputies urged the European colleagues to develop legislative initiatives to preserve the memory of the heroism of Soviet soldiers-liberators.

Elected officials, in particular, propose to include in the curriculum of educational institutions “truthful materials reflecting the crucial role of the red army in the victory over Nazism, the lessons of the Holocaust, the harmfulness of collaboration and any form of aiding and abetting Nazi occupiers.”
