The appeal of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” in recognition of the organization as extremist, the elimination and prohibition of activities on the territory of Russia rejected by the Supreme court of the country, reports TASS.
“The decision of the Supreme court of the Russian Federation from April 20 to leave without change, the appeal — without satisfaction”, — concluded the Chairman of the appeal Board. The resolution came into force.
On submission of the “Witnesses” against the decision reported on 29 may. The organization’s representatives stated that during the hearing of the actual claim of the Ministry of justice has not found its confirmation, and the court “did not consider the arguments of the defense”. They also reported about the readiness, if necessary, to reach the European court of human rights (ECHR).
“Jehovah’s witnesses” is an international religious organization with headquarters in new York. In Russia in 2015, there were 175 thousand of its members. Worldwide there are about eight million. Some experts believe it a dangerous sect that has Protestant roots. The claims of some States to the organization cause a fundamental failure of its followers from blood transfusions and military service.
