President Vladimir Putin awarded the title of Hero of Russia posthumously pilot Sergey Rybnikov, who died while testing the MiG-29 in the suburbs. The corresponding presidential decree published on the official portal of legal information on Monday, July 17.
In addition, for the courage and professionalism during the flight to the ISS, the President awarded the order “For merits before Fatherland” II, III and IV degrees of cosmonauts Yuri Malenchenko, Sergei Volkov and Mikhail Kornienko.
Rybnikov, the pilot of the MiG-29KUB crashed in the suburban area of the city of Voskresensk, died in hospital on 5 December 2014. The cause of death was injuries received during ejection.
According to the investigation, training and combat fighter fell on December 4 during a test flight near the village of Chemodurov. In fact the incident a criminal case was initiated.
