The state Duma at plenary session on Friday ratified the Protocol to the agreement between Russia and Syria on the placement of the aviation group of the Russian Armed forces on the territory of the SAR.
Earlier the document was submitted to the state Duma by the RF President. The provisions of the Protocol relating to the deployment of Russian aviation group of the armed forces, its movable and immovable property on the territory of Syria, as well as issues relating to its functioning. In addition, the Protocol clarifies the status of the personnel of the Russian aviation of the armed forces, family members of personnel, as well as the competent authorities of the Russian side.
As previously stated the member of the international Affairs Committee of the state Duma Sergei Zheleznyak, the ratification of this Protocol will most effectively realise the potential of the Russian troops and prevent the spread of the terrorist threat in the region.
