MOSCOW, 14 Jul — RIA Novosti. Moscow expects that Washington at the meeting, Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and U.S. Undersecretary of state for political Affairs Thomas Shannon will provide specific proposals to resolve the crisis around the Russian departmenet, said the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
Earlier, the Russian foreign Ministry confirmed that the next meeting Ryabkov and Shannon is scheduled for July 17. The previous meeting scheduled for June 23 in St. Petersburg, have been cancelled by the Russian side. How, then, said the foreign Ministry of Russia, after Washington’s decision to expand anti-Russian sanctions because of the situation around Ukraine “the situation is not conducive to the conduct of a round of such a dialogue.”
Consultation Ryabkov and Shannon are part of bilateral efforts to discuss and resolve problems in Russian-American relations. The agenda covers humanitarian issues, activities of the diplomatic corps, departmenet. Earlier Ryabkov said RIA Novosti that the delay of the U.S. decision on the Russian diplomatic property increases the chances of a harsh response from Moscow, and that he had already prepared.
“This meeting is, in our opinion, should become not just a Protocol, Protocol we had many meetings, there were contacts between embassies and so on. This meeting should be a concrete discussion, we expect the American side the detailed proposals and the conversation is not superficial, and deep about how to get out of this situation,” Zakharova said at a briefing in Moscow.
The administration of U.S. President Barack Obama at the end of December 2016, passed a package of anti-Russian sanctions because of alleged “interference in election” and “pressure on American diplomats” working in Russia. Among other things, the United States has closed access to the two residential complexes, the so — called suburban “summer cottages” Russia’s permanent mission in new York and the Russian Embassy in Washington, which is the Russian diplomatic property. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, commenting on the arrest of Russian property in the U.S., said that Moscow considers the internal difficulties of the US President Donald trump, but without a response it will not leave, if Washington will not do anything.
