Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on the national holiday — the Bastille Day. This was reported on the Kremlin website on Friday, July 14.
“Russian-French ties are rooted in the deep past. This reminded us open together in the Palace of Versailles exhibition devoted to the tercentenary of the visit of Emperor Peter I of France. Such historical events speak eloquently about the special nature of relations between our countries, the respect and sympathy between our peoples to each other,” Putin said in a congratulatory telegram.

According to him, he intends to “celebrate and honor” the main state holiday of the French Republic, and to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the US entry into the First world war.
