MOSCOW, July 11. /TASS/. The Ministry of health of the Russian Federation plans in 2017 to centralize the procurement of drugs for the treatment of patients with orphan (rare) diseases. This was announced by the Minister of health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova at a meeting of the group intra-faction “United Russia” in the state Duma under the direction of Victor Pinsky.

Orphan diseases are a group of rare diseases, most of which are caused by genetic abnormalities and manifests itself in childhood. At the moment there are about 7 thousand varieties such diseases.
From the Federal budget of the Russian Federation are funded cures for diseases included in the Federal program “Seven nosologies”, 24 nosology is the responsibility of the regions. According to the Minister, for the three diseases of these 24 types of treatment for each patient costs the region about $ 100 million a year.
“There are regions that concentrate in these patients. This is just another incidence. The regions are unable to cope.
