Russia supports the Iraqi authorities aimed at restoring sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, said the Russian foreign Ministry issued on Monday in connection with the statement of the government of Iraq on the completion of the operation to capture the city of Mosul.
Earlier, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has officially declared victory over the terrorist group “Islamic state”* in Mosul.
“In Moscow support the actions of the Iraqi authorities aimed at restoring sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. Are sure that securing progress in the fight against terrorism will contribute to the promotion of inter-Iraqi process of national reconciliation taking into account the interests of all ethnic and religious groups in the country,” — said in Russian depodesta.
The Russian foreign Ministry noted that this victory was possible thanks to the courage and steadfastness of the Iraqi military, the people’s militia and Kurdish troops “Peshmerga”.
The Russian foreign Ministry considers the liberation of Mosul as “a crushing blow” to the group ISIS* in Iraq. “Ahead – the elimination of the terrorist presence throughout the country,” — said the Russian foreign Ministry.
