Japan is ready to develop cooperation with Russia in the Kuril Islands to strengthen confidence between Moscow and Tokyo for the conclusion of a peace Treaty, Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.

“For the conclusion of a peace Treaty would need to be a deepening of trust between the two countries, in this regard, we are ready to develop the cooperation in terms of joint activities on Islands and more free visits to places of burial of the Motherland and former residents of the Islands,” said Abe at the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In this way, the Prime Minister added that Japan would like to strengthen the trust between countries. “The recent visit of our delegation on joint economic activities on Islands is a significant case,” he said.

He added that since the previous meeting between the two leaders since December last year, bilateral relations have been steadily developing in various fields, and after the meeting on Friday will be given additional impetus.
