The United States and Russia reached agreement on the map the line of contact of the conflicting parties in South-West Syria. As reported by RIA Novosti, said a senior state Department spokesman.
According to him, it is also necessary to take additional measures to strengthen the truce. “These steps will include additional deployment of observers in the region”, — said the diplomat.
He noted that the idea of the truce in Syria is to end violence and create a Foundation for political discussion, not to provide advantages of one of the parties to the conflict.
The spokesman pointed out that the details relating to the monitoring of the cease-fire will be worked out in the next couple of days.
In agreement, he continued, is that “each party, with influence on the parties to the conflict must provide it as efficiently as possible”. “On the opposition — the United States and Jordan, the regime [of Syrian President Bashar al -] Assad — Russia”, — said the diplomat.
He also said that “a positive signal that the U.S. and Russia can cooperate in practice”. State Department spokesman added that in the past, the ceasefire agreement in Syria, it was difficult to implement because “the situation in different parts of the country differed significantly from each other.”
On Friday, July 7, U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson, speaking in Hamburg at the summit of “Big twenty”, said that Russia and Jordan continue work on the agreement on the security forces in the areas of de-escalation in Syria.
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, in turn, said that the country is ready to declare a ceasefire in the South-West Arab Republic (the districts of Deraa, Quneitra, and Suwayda) from 9 July. According to the head of the foreign Ministry, Washington and Moscow have pledged to observe the truce.
