In Moscow detained about 70 volunteers headquarters of the opposition politician Alexei Navalny. On Saturday, July 8, reports TASS with reference to press-service GU MVD of Russia in the capital.

Law enforcement explained that the arrest was made due to “offences connected with violation of order of holding public actions”. Against activists are drawn up protocols on administrative offences. On their basis, decisions will be made in accordance with applicable law.

As notes “Interfax”, this weekend supporters of Navalny carried out in Moscow and several other Russian cities, the so-called “cleanup campaign”. In the framework of the campaign they are spreading information about opposition and his political program.

At the end of last year, Navalny declared intention to participate in presidential elections in 2018. The CEC declares that the opposition will not be able to stand because of criminal record: in February 2017, the Leninsky district court of Kirov sentenced the politician to five years probation for arranging the theft of property of state enterprise “Kirovles”. Given the fact that since the sentencing three years have passed, the sentence expires in 2018.
