Negotiations of presidents of Russia and USA Vladimir Putin and Donald trump confirmed that the leaders of both countries are guided by national interests. This was stated by Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday, July 7, reports TASS.
The conversation of the heads of state he described as “very specific”. “My feeling that presidents, both Russian and American, driven by the interests of the two countries,” the diplomat said.
According to him, Russian and American leaders “agreed on a number of specific things”, including as regards bilateral relations. In particular, we are talking about change of heads of diplomatic missions. “They agreed to expedite the procedures necessary for the appointment of new ambassadors of the USA in Russia and Russia in the United States,” — said Lavrov. According to him, Putin and trump in a two-hour conversation touched upon the subject of withdrawal of departmenti Russia under the administration of former President Barack Obama.
The summit was also agreed to create a bilateral working group that will focus on the entire range of issues “including the fight against terrorism, organized crime, hacking in all its manifestations,” said the Minister. On cybersecurity leaders focused “due to the fact that this area is becoming more risky,” he explained.
Earlier Friday, President Vladimir Putin said that he discussed with his American counterpart the situation in Syria, the conflict in Ukraine and the fight against international terrorism and cybercrime.
The first meeting of Russian and American presidents lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. The members of the media were allowed to observe only the greetings of heads of state.
