MOSCOW, July 6. /TASS/. Roskomnadzor has blocked material on the Internet, justifying the activity is prohibited in the Russian Federation the international terrorist organizations “Islamic state” (IG) and “jabhat an-Nusra” and the group “Right sector”, recognized in Russia extremist organization. On Thursday reported the Federal service for supervision in the sphere of Telecom, information technologies and mass communications (Roskomnadzor).
“Today, at the request of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation in a network the Internet blocked a number of major information resources of the nationalist and extremist”, – stated in the message of Roskomnadzor.
Earlier the state office of public Prosecutor of Russia has demanded from Roskomnadzor to block material on the Internet, justifying the activity is prohibited in the Russian Federation the international terrorist organizations “Islamic state” (IG) and “jabhat an-Nusra” and the group “Right sector”, recognized in Russia extremist organization.
As explained in the Prosecutor’s office, materials of an extremist and terrorist nature were identified during systematic monitoring by the state office of public Prosecutor of the Russian segment of the Internet. “The identified information resources of the nationalist wing, including “Sputnik and pogrom”, “Russian sector”, “Right view” and others. Also there are numerous materials justifying activity is prohibited in Russia organizations “Right sector”, the “Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant” (formerly known as IG – approx. TASS), “dzhebhat an-Nusra” and other terrorist groups fighting in Syria,” – said the press service of the Supervisory authority.
“These resources are promoting the idea of national and religious hatred, which forms a threat to public safety, encourage extremism,” – said the Prosecutor’s office.
In this regard, the Prosecutor’s office introduced a package of six requirements in Roskomnadzor for the rapid blocking of illegal content.
