Moscow. July 5. INTERFAX.RU — the emergencies Ministry and the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has signed a cooperation agreement, under which the rescuers will train the sisters of mercy and priests to help people caught in an extreme situation.

“Today we signed an agreement that opens new horizons for further cooperation and implementation of tasks designed to help the person in trouble. The document provides for the participation of the Russian Orthodox Church in the organization of complex problems in the prevention of emergency and to provide support to victims in emergencies and other disasters,” — said on Wednesday the head EMERCOM of Russia Vladimir Puchkov.

The agreement provides that the clergy will provide spiritual support to the victims and their families both at home and in hospitals.

To do this in the field of emergency will be organized Hiking temples and nurses.

According to the document, “the diocese will receive from the Ministry of emergencies of Russia information about the ongoing emergency, which will allow them to make timely decisions about the need for the departure of the volunteers”.

“Representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church will participate in exercises, seminars, conferences on issues of preparedness and response to emergency situations”, — said the press service of EMERCOM of Russia.

In turn, the clergy plan to hold for the rescuers the basics of Orthodox culture.

Another area of cooperation between the Church and the rescue will be the prevention of emergencies. Representatives of the Church will be part of the territorial commissions in the Department of supervision and preventive work of EMERCOM in the region.
